Not Using the Steam Room At All

A steam room is considered good for you but there are some people who should not use a steam room at all and there will be clear health reasons for this.  There are a lot of benefits but there can also be downfalls.  Pregnant women and children are told not to use a steam room and there must be a reason for this.  No one would be told to stay away if there was not a reason and in this case it is because of the problem that would be caused if they got too hot.  Although it will be much more serious for pregnant women the same rule should apply to everyone.  It is not good to have the body too hot for too long a period of time.

Most of the time you will be told not to stay in the steam room for much longer than 15 to 20 minutes at a time.  If you feel comfortable once that amount of time has passed then there is no need to worry too much about staying in a little longer but it should not be a great deal longer.  If you drink water before you go in and intend to drink some more as soon as you get out that may buy you a few more minutes without causing yourself a problem.

If you start to feel uncomfortable while you are in there it may be best to come out even if the 15 to 20 minutes that is acceptable have not passed.  Your body will know best and if the heat and humidity is having a bad effect you should leave the steam room and take special notice of how you feel the next time you go in.  It is not often that someone can never use a steam room but if you regularly feel uncomfortable try lowering the temperature a bit.

If you start to feel tired when you are in there it will also be best to get out.  The last thing you want is to relax too much and end up falling asleep.  As you will feel relaxed when you are in there that is a possibility and by falling asleep you could end up being in there much longer than you ideally should.
