This can be pretty much like asking how long is a piece of string? The steam room can be as big or as small as you want it and the amount of space that you have available will determine the size of the item you can choose. Many small ones can be for one or two people and then there are bigger ones that are normally found outside the home that will seat 20 or more. If you have the room at home and the money to pay for a large steam room there is no reason why you can’t have an industrial sized one fitted.
The generators are not very big and they do not have to be in the same room as the steam room. They can be placed anywhere up to 40 feet away so if there is a cupboard in a bedroom then they can easily be fitted there. When you want to know how much space does a steam room take up you can always contact a supplier who will advise you.
If there is Limited Space
If space is very limited it may be best to have a steam shower. This will only need roughly the same amount of space as you already have for your normal shower. If this is a concern for you it may be best to seek professional advice. The unit that you think is going to be best for you may be taking up extra room. As some steam rooms are square, some oblong and some partially circular it may be possible to fit a cubicle into a part of your bathroom that you did not think was going to be anywhere near suitable.
If you do not have a great deal of room, but still want a steam room it is possible to get quite small ones. It may be nice to have one for all the family but it may be best to get a small one and use it on a rota basis rather than do without.
How Much Space Does a Steam Room Take up?
A small sized steam room will take up an area of about 1300 x 1200 x 2250mm which will be small enough to fit in most bathrooms. This is the same size as most shower units so if your bathroom can have a shower in it you will be able to have a steam room. In reality the maximum size is not an issue and as long as you have the room and money a steam room can be whatever size you want. You will have much more choice of seating and design as you will not be worried about fitting the items into a cramped corner.
Unless there are a lot of people who will be using the steam room at the same time then there is no need to have a particularly big one. There are some that are wheelchair accessible and obviously for this there will need to be more room both inside the steam room and in the surrounding area to allow the wheelchair to be manoeuvred in.
