Sauna Steam Room

Some people will have a preference when it comes to having either a sauna or a steam room but both of them have attributes that will make them enjoyable.  It is nice to use either of them but there will clearly be benefits whichever you select.  A sauna is classed as a low humidity cubicle and this means that it heats up rocks and in some cases infrared rays to get the steam.  The relaxation that is felt after using either a sauna or a steam room will be the same but if you decide that a sauna is the one for you need to know what other benefits you will get out of it and also any pitfalls you need to look out for.

Types of Sauna Steam Room

There are two different types of sauna and that is a dry and a wet one.  If the sauna is created with the use of hot rocks the temperature will rise to around 200° and will have a low humidity normally somewhere in the region of 10%.  A dry sauna makes it easier for the body to deal with the heat produced as the sweat leaves the surface of the skin very quickly and this is because there is very little humidity.  When the sauna is wet the humidity can go as high as 20%.

There are a number of different types of sauna and knowing the difference between them should make the choice easier:

  • Traditional Finnish Sauna – water is put onto the rocks that are on a heater and there will be steam produced.
  • Generated Saunas – here there will be a generator used to produce the steam
  • Combination – you can have a sauna, steam bath and shower all in the one cubicle.

Fitting a Sauna Steam Room

It is possible to fit your own sauna steam room without relying on a professional.  This will not only make it cheaper but will give you a sense of achievement when you first relax in it.  If the feeling of achievement is not as important as making sure the job is done quickly and without too much effort it is possible to get the steam room sauna in kit form.

With a steam room sauna kit it is possible to build your own Finnish Sauna in about an hour. With most kits the pieces are all readymade and just need to be put together.  To make sure that you get the sauna steam room you want you can get help designing and installing it and the only limits will be the space available and of course your budget.

When the water is put on the rocks it is possible to put fragrances in it.  This will mean that the fragrance will circulate around the sauna steam room and leave the whole area smelling nice.  There will still be the need to make sure that the whole area is thoroughly cleaned after use as just because it smells fresh it does not mean that there are no germs present.
